Tanya Pluth: The Tunes
Sunset on the 3rd day
(Tanya Pluth)
2006-04
Ok, so back when I was 20 (21?) I decided to fast for three days. Don't ask. . .Anyway, at the end of the last day this song came out, totally as-is, and I still have the ATM receipt I wrote it on.
Lots of people have put up ideas on how to produce this song, but I can't bring myself to change it much from the original, since it truly catches a particular moment and mood in my life. . . tip o' the hat to young, angst-ridden unrequited love.
Sunset on the third day
lonely as I am
I get this funny feeling every now and again
I rise and I dream of meeting your hands
lonely as I am, I move on
Sunset on the third day hungry as I am If I choose to be empty, can I choose to be full?
I’d ask you to help me, but I already know
this rope would break
if we both decided to pull
Sunset on the third day, waiting as I am
wanting you to call and plead your case again
I want you to want me, but I’ve already learned
Wanting me is just not your style
So it’s the sunset on the third day
lonely as I am
there’s nothing left to do but decide when
and maybe it’s better, because in the end
I would just wake up hungry again
