In 2005 I had the experience of going to the US-Mexico border outside of Douglas, Arizona to volunteer with the ACLU's legal observers program monitoring the actions of the Minute Men anti-immigrant vigilantes. The experience was chilling, and left me motivated to share my experiences with others. Shortly after I returned to Oakland (where I was living at the time) I heard California's Governor declare that he would support Minute-Men style actions on the California-Mexico border. I decided this was the perfect opportunity to put together my thoughts and share them with others. I feel grateful that KQED's "Perspectives" program gave me the opportunity to do so with a broader (much broader!) audience. Listen in to hear more.
