Tanya Pluth: The Tunes
Traveling Home
(Tanya Pluth)
2006-04
I wrote this song when I was 19, or 20, and wanted to be able to travel far and wide in the name of love, but as you can see by the last verse, I just thought about it a lot without actually doing so.
If I thought I could run from here to El Paso
I’d buy a pair of running shoes and I’d hit the road and not look back
I’d make traveling my home
If I thought I’d reach Colorado on a river
under highways and over dams I’d build me a canoe, make me a paddle
I’d make traveling my home
Come to find there’s plenty of time
and lots of paths to follow
There’s no need to change speed
There’s always some room for tomorrow
If I thought this itch to move
was really all I wanted
there’s nothing else I’d ever do
I’d hit the road and not turn back
I’d make traveling my home
